A beautiful alternative to Horton Creek, See Canyon creeps up the east side of Promontory Butte. As with all Mogollon Rim canyons beware of the monsoon season. Storms actually break right off the rim above you.
The See Canyon Trail runs from the Highline below the rim to FS 300 above the rim. This is the far east section of the 51 mile Highline which runs from 260 Trailhead to Pine Trailhead near the town of Pine. The Highline stretch from See Canyon east to Two-Sixty Trailhead is the best mountain biking possibly in the north-central part of Arizona.

Christopher Creek meanders through the Canyon. If you are quite you can sneak up on unsuspecting Rainbow and Brown Trout.

For those looking to hike in the canyon - See Canyon Trail is the best route and will take you practically through the entire canyon. Don't forget your fishing pole and go Explore the Wild in Gila County.

From Phoenix: Take 87 N to 260 East and follow 260 for about 21 miles. Between mile marker 274 and 275 there is a huge green sign that says Christopher Creek. Turn left here and follow this road past a few small businesses (about 1/2 mile or so) and take a left onto FR284. This is a well maintained dirt road. Follow this for two miles to it's terminus. There is a huge parking area with restroom facilities.
FR284 is directly across the road from the Market in Christopher Creek, on the west side of the road.
